You are a specialist in your business, and equally Achilles Express Logistics is a specialist in ensuring that all of your supply chain management needs are fulfilled.
As an industry leader in the warehousing, transport and freight logistics marketplace since 1984, this Dublin-based market leader is more than a third party logistics provider, offering a broad portfolio of services to meet clients’ individual and very specific requirements.
In the early days, Achilles Express was based in Kinsealy, Co Dublin. However, as time went by this location began to hold the company back; therefore, in 2000 a strategic decision was taken to relocate closer to the M50, to a purpose built logistics centre at Finglas in Dublin. This made sound business sense as it allowed Achilles Express to increase its warehouse capacity. It also allowed the company to offer more to its customers as it was then in a position to store/handle/order pick and deliver.
Today, with strategic partnerships in place with a number of chilled/frozen warehouse operators, transport companies and freight forwarding firms in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, Achilles Express can offer its customers a broad portfolio of cost-effective transport and warehousing solutions.
The transportation of perishable, chilled and refrigerated goods in the Dublin area and nationwide comprises the core of Achilles Express day-to-day business. In addition, though, the company’s flexible approach to means that it also transports goods for some of Irelands most celebrated organisations, including those in the pharmaceutical, telecommunications and consumer sectors.
Serving the Ireland/UK/European distribution sector, Achilles Express adheres to the highest possible standards, with the rigorous procedures it has implemented over the years, today allowing the company to reap the rewards of its close attention to detail and fast, flexible and friendly approach to business. Its drivers, for instance, undergo intensive training, including GDP (Good Distribution Practice), which is now the norm for the pharmaceutical industry and is increasingly being asked for in the food sector.
Whatever the job, everything is logged onto tan IT System supplied by Freightistics. These jobs are then routed by the operations team, which categorises them in order of importance (i.e. timed deliveries), specific temperature, or other requests, and allocate them to specific drivers via computer. When the job is completed and signed for by the consignee, this signature is sent back to the system via mobile phone. The customer can log onto the system and retrieve his pod and time of delivery at anytime. Also, all vehicles have live tracking and temperature control visible to the customer. The customer can log on at anytime and check the temperature and location of his goods. This allows the customer to have clear visibility of his goods at all times when they are in the custody of Achilles Express.
This is a company always looking forwards too. All of its drivers, for instance, have recently completed Good Distribution Practice (GDP), which is the norm within the pharmaceutical industry. Indeed, Achilles Express is committed to exceeding expectations at every turn; Liam McCowan’s mobile phone, for example, is on 24/7 so that any problems can be resolved quickly and efficiently.
Serving a wide customer-based, including European and UK hauliers, food manufacturers and wholesalers, retailers, shipping companies and marketing organisations, Achilles Express firmly believes that the only way to succeed nowadays is to form strategic alliances in order to help reduce the running costs and empty miles. Put simple, it will work with customers to help them grow their businesses, and in doing so will grow with them.
Constantly seeking out ways to increase customer satisfaction (the company is not happy to provide an ordinary level of service), Achilles Express business is based on your success! And, as it celebrates its 27th year successfully servicing you the customer, the company would like to thank its customers – past, present and future – and looks forward to servicing them for many more years to come.
