Local Shropshire based cheesemaker, Belton Cheese has come away with a flurry of awards totalling 47 prizes, including 16 gold medals and 6 Trophies their best ever haul of awards at the prestigious Nantwich show!
This year’s International Cheese Awards was the biggest and best yet with a record number of entries. Over 150 judges had the tough job of choosing the winners from more than 3,700 entries. Due to the fact that Belton Cheese won 47 prizes, they were awarded “the National Westminster Trophy” for highest number of points overall. Further to this, Peter Young, Operations Manager at Belton Cheese for the past 9 years won the shows “Dairy Industry Award” for his lifelong contribution to the cheese industry.
Commenting on the win, Justin Beckett, Managing Director said, “We cannot believe we have won so many awards at such a prestigious show. Winning 6 Trophies and an additional 40 awards is an incredible achievement but only possible due to the dedicated staff we have at Belton Cheese. We are also very proud of Peter whose 37 years of commitment to the cheese industry has been recognised with a special and well deserved award.”
