Mitigating Spray Drift – Spray Applications Workshops

Spray Drift is becoming increasingly important as growers have to deal with bystander issues, neighbouring crops and crop margins. Efficiency of application is also affected by drift and as we try to maximise the efficacy of the products we are using, understanding ‘good’ and ‘bad’ drift becomes more important.

Agrovista have organised two Application Workshops for Growers on December 1st at Askham Bryan College near York and Sturdy’s Castle, Tackley, Oxon on the 7th of December.

Andy Lane, Research Scientist at Silsoe Applications Unit and Mark Hemmant, Technical Manager at Agrovista UK Ltd will be speaking on the theory and practise of spraying. The workshops will cover nozzle selection to forward speeds and boom heights and their impact on effective application and avoiding drift issues.

The latest research on application work will look at optimisation of application techniques, how it works in practice, and the utilisation of knowledge on farm. Practical information will be shared on how to increase the biological efficacy of products and how application techniques can improve disease and weed control
