No Profit in Healthy People

I am part of a box scheme: I have had a box of organic, in-season fruit and veg delivered to my home for many years now.

Some people wonder why I choose to pay a premium, when the ‘same’ produce is on sale at my local supermarket for considerably less. Well, it’s because I choose to invest in my health, whilst others prefer to invest in computer games or cigarettes.

Modern ‘industrial’ food is often not very healthy; in many instances it can barely be classed as food with all of the additives and sweeteners. Of course, for many years a lot of people have tried to counteract the effects of modern living by taking various herbal concoctions. Now herbs, as you are well aware, are a part of the natural world; they grow like everything else in the ‘garden’. The evil that is Codex Alimentarius, though, in league with the EU (and other national groups), has got a lot of them banned. The reasoning is that not enough testing has been carried out as regards the health benefits of herbs. This is also true of potatoes and tomatoes: should we ban those too?

People are becoming increasingly concerned about the ‘secret’ organisation that is Codex Alimentarius: the thinly-veiled propaganda arm of the international pharmaceutical industry that does everything it can to promote industry objectives whilst limiting individual options to maintain health (which would diminish members’ profits). Its motivation is not rocket science and neither is the source of its funding.

And what the hell kind of a name is Codex Alimentarius! It sounds like some evil criminal cartel in a Bond film. Actually, take away the reference to Bond and the statement is true. That’s why I have a box scheme: it’s just one weapon in my war against those people who don’t want you to be healthy. There’s no profit in healthy people.
