QTS is a leading laboratory specialising in the analysis of pesticide residues in fresh produce, tea and food products.
The Kent based business founded by Managing Director Stephen Gardner was born out of a simple principle of modernising pesticide residue testing. “Our name is comprised of three key elements that we excel at; Quality, Turnaround and Service”

Quality – Accuracy is vital in our work, which is why we have developed state-of-the-art analytical techniques that provide the right result every time. We were one of the first commercial laboratories to combine a number of individual tests like carbendazim, carbamates, neonictinoids, etc into a single test. Traditionally these were all carried out as individual tests at great expense but now are carried out rapidly at a much lower cost. QTS is accredited to ISO 17025 but quality is more than just a certificate, it is a way of working and we make every effort to ensure high quality results on every sample and every test.

Turnaround – Our new techniques were developed not only with quality in mind but also with speed of results, enabling us to provide results for the majority of pesticide residues with impressive speed. We were the first laboratory in the UK to reduce the report time from a typical 2 to 3 weeks to a standard turnaround time of typically 5 days or less. We also offer our customers a priority test service of 48 hour, 24 hour or same day. This turnaround is of real benefit to our customers releasing perishable produce products into the supply chain, a significant advantage in the age of retailer field to fork compliance.

Service – We are lucky to have a talented team of scientists with a combined scientific experience of over 100 years backed up by a razor sharp customer service team. We offer a first class service tailor-made to meet individual requirements, which does not include being passed around aimlessly and being put on hold indefinitely.

In order to keep at the forefront of the industry we have been working relentlessly over recent months on a number of innovative developments including a new Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS). In conjunction with our software partner, the new system will bring a range of key online benefits to all our customers who want to run productive release of products more efficiently. The investment is not just limited to software; we have also installed and commissioned new instrumentation into the laboratory. We have also added to our senior management team with the arrival of Julian Guanaria as Sales Director. Julian has worked with QTS for many years as a customer and we are delighted to have him on board. He brings with him 20 years’ technical experience supplying produce ingredients into the food industry from a global supply base.
