Scotty Brand, an umbrella brand for premium seasonal Scottish produce, has won three prestigious awards at the UK wide Re:fresh Awards – the Fresh Produce industry equivalent of the Oscars.
The first award presented to Scotty Brand was for “Marketing Campaign of the Year” – in recognition for the innovative collaboration with the Oscar winning movieBrave, which included TV advertising, on-pack promotions, competitions, VIP screenings and exceeded all targets.
Scotty Brand was also awarded “The Business Excellence Award” ( for companies with a turnover of less than £50m), and judges commended Scotty Brand’s business model, which, allows each producer to focus on areas of strength and competence while ensuring a consistent approach to sales and marketing.
Scotty Brand also picked up the main award of the night and was delighted to win the “2013 Re:fresh Overall Produce Trader of the Year” Award
Scotty Brand’s Managing Director Paul McLaughlin collected the award at the ceremony in London on 10th October, which was attended by leading figures from the food and drink industry, and said, “To win three awards is just fantastic – we are delighted to be rewarded and recognised for the innovative approach we have taken to our business and marketing strategies. Our product portfolio delivers the best seasonal produce to consumers and we are constantly looking for exciting new ways to stand out from the crowd. The way we work is based on a new and effective partnership relationship with our producers and our sales and awards alike are proof that it works and delivers great taste and value to consumers. ”
Nigel Jenney, Chief Executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium said that, “The standard of entries this year was extremely high. Scotty Brand’s rapid growth is tremendous, due to its strong collaboration with growers and inspired brand marketing.”
The judges commented: “Scotty Brand’s work in finding routes to market for Scottish producers under their own brand is highly impressive. It’s given growers a choice. With clear targets for its marketing campaign, Scotty delivered on the numbers and really drove sales.”
Seen as the Oscars of the fresh food and drink industry, the Re:fresh Awards are run annually by the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), the UK’s trade association and the leading trade magazine, The Fresh Produce Journal.
